Droitwich Camera Club is set to host an enlightening evening with Simon Caplan, a photographer who specialises in the art of still life, on Monday 28th October at the Methodist Church.
His presentation, "Out of the Dark," will showcase a collection of light-painted images that echo the depth and drama of renaissance art.
Members will be treated to a historical journey through the evolution of still life in both painting and photography, learning how classical techniques can enhance modern photographic practices.
Additionally, Simon will offer valuable insights into composition, lighting, and common challenges in the field.
The event will also feature a mini exhibition of Simon's prints, allowing members to engage closely with the art form. A few select books will also be available alongside the prints, offering further reading about Still life photography.
Highlights from the ‘Open’ Print Competition”
On Monday the 21st of March 2024, Droitwich Camera Club welcomed Bob Goode as our independent Judge for our "Open" print competition. Congratulations to Audrey Couchman,Nigel Reader Sue Biggart who received maximum scores of 20 points.
Additionally, congratulations to Christopher Lunn, Robin Couchman, Andrew Bradbury, Ric Harding and Pat Catlin who received scores of 19 points.
Bob carefully examined every print. He commented on the strengths of each picture and, where appropriate, pointed out weaknesses such as unwanted artefacts. Once he had reviewed every image, Bob commented that it would be very difficult to pick winners from such a large number of high quality prints.
Thank you to everyone who entered our first print competition of the season.

PhotoEntry is open for your images. Closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 10th November 2024.
