This talk dispels some myths and investigates image manipulation through the ages and up to modern day. It includes examples from yesteryear in the first half and goes through the processes involved in creating composite images using Photoshop in the second half.
Since his first darkroom print at the age of 8, Ian has nursed a lifelong passion for photography. Film was good when it was all that was to be had but the digital age provides both revelation and liberation, allowing images to be edited in minutes with a mouse, rather than in days with a scalpel and enlarger. Composite images are now here to stay – lamented by some! - but they were born much longer ago than most would realise. Ian has had many successes and awards in 'Club' photography. He was Practical Photography Magazine's 'Landscape Photographer of the Year' in 2013 and had a seascape included as 'November' in the BBC Countryfile Calendar” in the same year. He is currently Chairman of Beacon Camera Club.
