Droitwich Camera - Views of New Members
Since our new season began in September the numbers attending each meeting have been extremely encouraging and as well as returning members we have also attracted a number of new recruits. Two of those are Debbie Pearcey and Tony Banks and we spoke to them about joining the Club.
Debbie is relatively new to photography and said “I joined Droitwich Camera Club after finding the details on Google. The welcome was warm and friendly, which if you’re trying to attract and retain new members, makes sense, but doesn’t always happen” Debbie went on to say “The visiting speakers have been enjoyable and some of the photos have left me feeling wholly inadequate! Still, that’s the whole point of joining a club; to improve and learn”
Debbie is hoping to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of club members in the coming months, and will report back in due course.
Tony is already an accomplished photographer with many years experience. He was encouraged to come along and have a look at Droitwich Camera Club by an existing member and Tony said “I am so glad I did, I have found everyone to be very warm and welcoming, I have been made to feel very much at home and I would recommend the Club to anyone”.
He went on “I am sure that I am going to enjoy being a member and that I will gain much knowledge by being one. I have found the standard of work entered into competitions to be excellent and a very good test of my own abilities”.
Tony has already been asked by another new member to provide them with some tuition/mentoring and he said that he is very much looking forward to being of assistance in this way. Well done Tony, that is just what the club should be about, sharing our knowledge of and passion for photography.
Many thanks to Debbie and Tony for their contribution to this blog and we hope that they continue to enjoy all that Droitwich Camera Club has to offer.
